Edgewise has been performing at clubs, festivals, and private gatherings in Greenville, SC, for the past several years. Our varied repertoire of standard tunes mixed with innovative originals is rendered with the classic ensemble of piano, bass, drums, and saxophone.
Bassist Todd Beal is a customer service manager with Liberty Insurance Services by day, and multi-faceted bass player by night. In addition to frequent free-lance jazz appearances, Todd is also a regular performer in the bass section of the Greenville Symphony.
Saxophonist Patrick Langham is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of South Carolina Spartanburg. He conducts the USCS Jazz Ensemble and directs a summer jazz camp featuring many great guest artists at USCS.
Percussionist Duane Malphrus is well-known to jazz fans in the Greenville area, having performed with numerous local groups. He is renowned for his playing and for his relentless onstage jokes. By day, Duane is supervisor of the Orchard Park Station Post Office.
Pianist Jon Grier is instructor of Music Theory and History and Composer-in-Residence at the Greenville Fine Arts Center. He has many published compositions and arrangements to his credit, and several are performed by Edgewise.
