Each of these short movements seeks to capture a different mood using the same essential motive: C-Eb-Bb-A. Scored for piccolo, 2 flutes, clarinet in Bb, bass clarinet in Bb, Alto Sax in Eb, 2 trumpets in Bb, Trombone, Baritone Horn, and percussionist. The percussion part is busy and can be divided between two players.
